Tips for Recycling
We want to make recycling easy for you. Review these tips to ensure we are able to service your recycling cart.
- Fit all recyclables into the cart – with the lid closed.
- Recycling should never be bagged.
- The ONE EXCEPTION to bagging is shredded paper. Place this in a clear bag so we can see it and separate it.
- Cut or break down cardboard boxes to maximize space in your cart.
- Set your cart out the night before or prior to 6 am on your service day. Place carts no more than two feet off the street or alley.
- Carts should open towards the street with the wheels towards your home.
- Make sure there’s three feet of clearance on all sides of the cart – no cars, mailboxes, trees, or other obstructions.
- Do not park in front of the cart.
- Stinky cart? Wash it out with water and bleach to kill odors.
- Prevent smells by rinsing out recyclables whenever possible before placing them in your cart.
